03.19.2007 :: After all, a cardigan without buttons is like an afghan. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

So, let's get some close ups of those buttons, shall we? Is it wrong to love buttons so? Should my husband be jealous of intense button love? Finding the right buttons gives me great pleasure. These buttons are not just closure, they are a fashion accessory. A statement. I'm saying something, but of course (as discussed in the previous entry) not many people are listening. I know you are!

Let's begin at the top and work our way down.

And this button, way on the bottom, is a loaner button. I know. Who knew there could be such a thing? But there were 6 matching buttons, this sweater needing 7 so until a more suitable match can be found, this one will visit, courtesy of my favorite place, Yarns in the Farms. DSC08465.JPG
It's not quite the right shade, but we won't tell him he's special. We want him to feel like part of the family, like he fits in without being different. He is a challenged button. And that's the way we like him.
There you have it! All the button talk I can eek out of a cardigan. I know that some of you will share the love right along with me.
And, if you'd like to see something funny and a bit on the scary side? Here's a picture of me trying to take a picture of the back of the sweater. I did not do so great getting the back but I got a priceless face. Christmas card anyone? And I would have SWORN to you that I could not be crosseyed if I tried.

Cheese!
P.S. Thank you so much for all of your great comments on the cardigan! I'm sending you beauty pagent kisses! haha

Those buttons ARE awesome! And my favorite color is green (they are green, aren't they? I ask because my monitor often causes me to order yarn that I think is, for example, pink, but what I get is actually orange). Anywho, this is the FIRST time ever, that I have been in awe of buttons :-)

when i worked at a dry cleaners, we were often having to use an odd button on a sweater or jacket. i liked the look of having the odd button at the top.....to me it looked like it belonged there, and wasn't just a filler.

Oooh, I LOVE the special little guy. I am a button nut as well. Have you ever been to www.buttondrawer.com? Go!

You're the best!!!

I've never been to Yarns in the Farms. I should go down there. It's not like it's that far from me.

Love buttons!

What a great idea! I like the different buttons and the sweater. The sweater looks like something I would want to live in most of the winter.

Posted by: Sydney on 03.21.2007 AT 01:51 AM

How cool that all the buttons are different! They all look really great on the sweater.

I love the second button from the top! I don't think I would use it - I would carry it around in my pocket.

And it's not so much the crossed eyes as the gritted teeth that I like! ;-)

Oh, wow. I can't pick a favorite!

Love!

Love the buttons, love the face, love the special one of us button.

Btw, don't you have a husband who could take pics for you? *L*

Posted by: Cookie on 03.20.2007 AT 06:22 PM

I think the fourth from the top is my favourite. :)

All I can think of is "Come, join us. We won't hurt you. It's okay. Really. What glazed look? Come, be one of our cult of rear-facing, sassy-buttoned, flexible-posing knitters. We will not harm you."

Priceless!

Oh Sandy, those buttons are gorgeous :) And that picture? Hilarious. You made me laugh out loud, it was just too funny.

Posted by: Jackie on 03.20.2007 AT 04:03 PM

If loving buttons is wrong, I don't wanna be right. Those are scrumptious.

Posted by: Ruth on 03.20.2007 AT 03:03 PM

You make me laugh! I'm a special button myself so I'm glad you've not only let the pretty ones in on the fun but a special one too. :)

Posted by: Kimberly on 03.20.2007 AT 02:42 PM

Sandy, I love that the buttons are all different. I am also very impressed that you can take pictures of yourself in the mirror -- I can't! I've tried, believe me.

I think Bloglines is ignoring you! Bastards.

Posted by: Norma on 03.20.2007 AT 08:24 AM

I love the buttons, including the last one. It would be a shame to change him out! You would miss him, don't you know?

Posted by: Barbara-Kay on 03.20.2007 AT 08:23 AM

Those are the best buttons ever. Even the bottom one.

Posted by: Paula on 03.19.2007 AT 10:19 PM

OMG! Sandy, you brave, brave soul for putting that photo up! I had a supremely shitty Monday, but seeing that photo makes me laugh!!! :-) HappY Monday!

Posted by: Terri on 03.19.2007 AT 08:11 PM

The buttons are so YOU, Sandy. But, about that photo . . .

Posted by: Carole on 03.19.2007 AT 08:08 PM

Great buttons!

Posted by: --Deb on 03.19.2007 AT 06:37 PM

That sweater, and those buttons, are unreasonably beautiful. Why is it that the absolute best sweaters are the simplest kind?
I'm glad to see that you aren't really missing a front tooth. Though an optometrist might help with that cross-eyed thing. ;-)
Did I mention that I really like those buttons?

Posted by: Lorette on 03.19.2007 AT 06:05 PM

Well, I, for one, am very glad for the closeup to prove that you are not, indeed, toothless. (or did you Photoshop it?) Heeeeeeeehee.

Those buttons are da bomb. Very creative, and they are like jewelry (as someone, I forgot who, said already -- I'm borrowing her idea) for your sweater.
