04.03.2007 :: Relay for Life

We kid with each other a lot around here. We laugh and we knit like there's no tomorrow together. But today it's time to get a bit serious.
Cancer.
Just the word sucks, doesn't it?

relay for life.jpg

On April 28th, Bethany will participate along with her roommate and other friends, in the annual UNH Relay For Life. Our family has been remarkably untouched by the tragedy of cancer. But we have dear friends who have suffered emotionally and physically as I'm sure you have too.
As part of the team of fundraisers, Bethany needs to raise $200. Being poor parents of 2 college kids, I wondered if you'd like to help. Every penny put together helps immensely.
If you'd like to help, click the button below to donate through paypal. If you don't have paypal, we can work something out I'm sure. For every donation (leave a comment here so I know you donated) I will enter your name in a raffle for yarn. One skein of luscious yarn (I don't own the yarn yet, but I'm thinking it will most likely be Judy's wonderful handdyed yarn, if she has any more to sell me)
~scroll down please, I can't figure out how to pull the button up~

From the bottom of my heart and Bethany's and the whole of Team UNH, THANK YOU!

What a wonderfully easy way to participate in Relay For Life. I have participated in years past and wasn't sure if I would be able to walk this year or not....happy to be able to donate to the cause!!! GREAT idea for a give-away!!!! Hope your donations far exceed your goal!!

I am going to donate. I just this morning found out a former coworker, younger than me and with three young children, died of brain cancer on Tuesday. Good for Bethany for doing this.

OH we love to participate in the Relay For Life. It's amazing! I remember the first one I did when they lit up all the luminaries around the inside of the track at midnight and on that lap I was reading the names of all these people who had overcome cancer or had been overcome by cancer. I was shocked to see so many names that I knew, but hadn't known what they were going through. Some of my favorite names were the people I knew who had cancer, and I had forgotten because they had gotten back to living life after the battle.

I'm happy to donate, too, Sandy. Thank Bethany and her team for us!

I donated!

I'm happy to donate, but I'd rather donate through the Relay for Life page at http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=206245
Can you email me with Bethany's last name or the team name so I make sure it goes to her team?

I sent a bit, hope she raises a lot. I agree with what everyone else said about cancer sucking.

Sandy, I'll skip the raffle since I have more yarn than one person should be allowed to have soooo.....

I sent ya some $$'s via paypal under my AWood addy. Since hubby is going through chemo now due to colon cancer (6 more weeks woohooo). I hope your daughter is successful in her fund raising efforts. Next we get to deal with treating the prostate cancer.

Cancer - I REALLY REALLY hate that word. Scares the caca out of me.

I chipped in a little bit too! I hope Bethany makes her goal, and good for her for doing the relay!

I made a little donation. I wish I could do more, but I hope it helps!

Go Bethany!!!

I've sent some money via PayPal(not much, PC and I made an annual contribution)... tell B that I am so proud that she is doing this! Cancer has touched my family in such a way that I can never explain... my dad (really, my daddy... as I am his princess) went from being SuperMan, who could do anything to a small, frail man who narrowly escaped death and lives with constant pain. Each day I ask God to make him just a little bit stronger. It's a very emotional subject for me.. but I am so glad that B decided to join the UNH relay... what a great cause.

My mom passed away of cancer when I was 11 and it is a horrible disease. I donated some money and I wish Bethany good luck!

Donated in the name of my friend Friederike, who just told me of her diagnosis today. If I win that yarn, I'll be making something for her with it.

OK, I donated. I have also donated to ACS in memory and honor of too many relatives. Think of me when I am having a biopsy on Monday that involves an MRI machine, yuck

I made a donation, Sandy. I would have done more but I've already donated to Julie (Stoneview) for her relay for life participation, too.
Good luck to Bethany!

Allow me to be the first to donate, and honored to do so. Bethany is a young person who I already know has my sense of humor and sensibilities. So she can't be all bad. hahahahaha.
