05.25.2007 :: Book giveaway, a lifestyle of recycle, reduce and reuse

Tiny, Cute Wildflowers
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan was one of the better books I have read in a while. A moving story of friendship and regret, I am haunted by the images in the book. The writing is poetic and beautiful. The characters real, even though I have never lived in 19th Century China. :)
I encourage you to read it and I would love to share my copy with one of you.
Leave a comment if you are interested in the book. I will pick someone at random on Sunday, noon EST and pop it in the mail. Begging won't help but will be amusing for all. The rest of you? You can either bug the person that wins the book and get it passed along or you could visit your local library or bookstore. You really should read it.
I do so wish I had a local book group at times like this!

A very engaging read. And aren't you nice to pass it on!
(Hey, look...I'm here, leaving a comment and my computer's not going crazy. A breakthrough!)

Thanks for the book pointer. My library has it, so I don't need to beg!

Missed the deadline but I'll make sure I read it anyway. I trust your taste,
Li

This has been on my list to read for about a year now! It has gotten wonderful peer reviews! I'm keeping my fingers crossed since begging and pleading won't help in this contest! :)

what the hell. throw my name into the hat for the book. i can use a new one to read.

I read this book last year and can also thoroughly recommend it. It is lyrical and very mving and some of the images will stay with you for a long time.

Sandy, what a great idea to suggest a book to read. There are so many books out there that most of us are uncertain of. It's great finding new sources for opinions on books. This one sounds like a good little treasure that I just might have to look up.

Sandy, You are so funny! No begging aloud...only silently! :-) If I won the book, I would read it with plesure and then pass it on to the little library at the Assisted Living where I work! It would be greatly enjoyed!

Oooh! I'll second the "summer reading" from Tee. But then, I'm a fan of all seasons reading.

Posted by: Felicia on 05.26.2007 AT 02:02 PM

That book was...by far...one of my favorites read in the last year. Loved it! :)

Posted by: cecily on 05.26.2007 AT 11:36 AM

That book is actually on my must read least. I'd love to win it!

Posted by: Michelle on 05.26.2007 AT 09:41 AM

A good read is worth begging for, especially if it amuses the hordes. So, I'd love the book. Please? Please?? Oh, pick me, pick me!! I'm down on my knees, hands clasped prayer-like in front of pleading eyes. Pretty please?

ahem. Trying to regain composure now.

Someone told me about that book a while ago, and I forgot the name, so I'm grateful to you for reminding me. I'd love to win a copy, but if I don't I at least know the name and author and can get it from the library. Thanks for the contest!

I'll beg...I would love to read this book and I don't have an english library to check it out on.....

Hi Sandy! I've recently discovered your blog and, I have to say, I love it. The pictures you take are beautiful and I love reading what you have to say.

(You've also inspired me to try to grow my own avocado seed - something I never considered doing before!)

Since I was recently tagged for a "7 Things" meme, I thought I'd use it as a good excuse to say hello and get to know a few folks in the knitting community. So...

Tag! You're it! If you're interested you can read more about this meme on my blog :)

P.S. Like you I also wish I knew of a local book group. I wouldn't mind finding a local knitting group too.

I'm a shameless Japanophile, and have been eyeing that book for quite some time. I'd love a chance to read it!

That is on my bookshelf right now, it is the next selection for my book club. Good luck to all of the contestants.

Read a book? What a novel idea! (sorry. couldn't resist.) I would love to have your book.

Posted by: Paula on 05.25.2007 AT 09:02 PM

Shall I chant? Go to the library, Go to the library, Go to the library. Can I stop now?

Posted by: Carole on 05.25.2007 AT 08:48 PM

If it were an audiobook, I'd be begging for it. Mebbe I'll look for it in audio, though, since you made the recommendation.... XOXO

Posted by: Norma on 05.25.2007 AT 08:41 PM

Ohhhh that IS a good book!
Don't put my name in though, I've already read it...obviously. Have a good one!

Posted by: Carrie on 05.25.2007 AT 08:35 PM

I love to find new books! I'd pass it along to someone. . .

Posted by: Liz on 05.25.2007 AT 08:32 PM

Don't mind me. I'm just here to watch the begging. ;^)

Posted by: Cookie on 05.25.2007 AT 08:31 PM

I'll put my name in for the book, too. I also added it to my list of books to put on hold at the local library.

Love the flowers.

ooo, summer reading! And if I don't win it (since I never seem to be at Random when people go there to pick someone), I know where my library is!
