06.10.2007 :: Party Accomplished

Well, it happened. I went to that party and I kicked ass. No. I didn't kick ass, but I did have a good time. Isn't that always the way? The bigger the pre-dread the better the time? For me anyway for some mystery reason. I did not end up buying a new outfit. Good for the wallet. I wore a casual/dressy pair of black slacks and a brown v neck lightweight sweater (because it was freezing out), my new sapphire necklace and some black mule type shoes, comfy and fashionable. My hair? Came out good. I wore makeup and perfume. I saw people that I had not seen in years, no one stood back agast saying "You are so FAT" and so therefore it was a great night. We even danced a couple of dances, one being the chicken dance because there is no better sight than a bunch of middle agers acting like chickens, is there?
And in some kind of delicious irony, my hip today is killing me. The hip could not take all of that fun. I most likely got myself in a weird sitting position for wee too long and am paying the price today. Lesson learned? Hurts the hip to be a square? Or something.
~~
It is clear to me that I need to Cara-tize my knitting. You know how Cara finds something new and she loves it so much she can't stop thinking about it or doing it? Yeah, I need that. Badly. My knitting is feeling blech. Just stagnant. I even tried some crochet squares like all the cool kids are going on about? It took about 10 stitches to remind me that I really don't like crochet. Back to the drawing board. I'll find it. I will.
And so, I leave you with a wee picture of an iris. No pictures of me doing the chicken dance, thank you very much. No pictures of me gimping around the house, chicken injured. Just an iris. I-wish.

You go girl!

I'm so glad you had a good time. You even danced yourself into an injury! That's like when I come home from a fiber festival without any voice left. I know I've had a really good time when I've talked myself hoarse. ;-)

There's always socks, you know. Everyone seems to be crazy about the Monkeys just now... there must be something to it, I figure. ;-)

Great news that the party went so well! I bet half the people there were of the same mind as you.... We have all changed so much over the years. I like to think that I am a better person now (not to mention that there IS more of me to be better...LOL!)

I suggest Nona's Sidwinders! I just finished the first sock. Certainly kept my interest WAY up there!! Her pattern is very well written. Might think about it at least. :)

Here you were a party animal and didn't know it! Beautiful Iris....

Oh, hooray for you! I'm glad you had such a good time.

I'm feeling vaguely dissatisfied with my knitting at the moment, too .... must be something in the air.

Excellent.

I'm so glad the party was a good one! :o)

I knit myself a 'Squatty Sidekick' today. From cast-on to felting in less than 24 hours. Very satisfying. ;o) (free pattern from 'Knitting Daily' the new Interweave thingy)

That iris is so beautiful. The varieties of iris are so endless that I could NEVER have them all. Perhaps that is a new goal for me to set? Nah, I can hardly take care of what I have....

I am so very pleased that you went to the party. I have been in the very same position but "chickened" out. (Sorry!) I feared the finger-pointers too much to go. I can't tell you how very proud of you I am.

Go fondle your stash - pet the pretty yarns. Maybe that will bring back your knitting mojo - and even if it doesn't, you will still have had a nice time.

It looks like that iris is sticking it's tongue out at me.

Maybe you should try Nona's Sidewinders it is an addictive kind of a project and although she published the whole pattern already, you can NOT check all of it at once but use it by the Acts as she published them. You can find more details in my blog or in Cara's she wrote about them too.

I am so glad it went well. Didn't I tell you?! ;^) I hope you feel better soon. I've got a walker and a wheelchair... don't ask... in my garage if you wanna go drama queenie tomorrow at work. ;^)

Have you seen Lace Style yet? I think the Hepburn Cardi might be up your alley. Maybe in a nice cotton for the summer. Or you could get some roving and we could figure out spinning together. :D

Yeah for a good party! And a beautiful iris. I'm off to knit socks at Lynch Park while the boy and his friend play since the weather is so beautiful today (which seems only fair after yesterday!). See you there?

It's good to hear that you had a great time at your dreaded reunion. As for something new and different to knit I suggest these

and especially these

Because the world needs more chickens. Can't you just see them in every colour of the rainbow?
