10.06.2007 :: Squash rocks

Today begins a very busy week here at Chez Hurley. Painting of the house commences. Don't worry, it will still be blue! That's the thing about home improvement projects! They make the rest of the house look a bit shabby. Where will it end? Most likely when the wallet is empty, as long as the refrigerator is not empty!
Although today is a bit warm and sticky feeling, the fall weather is supposed to roll in tonight for a long stay. Crisp and chilly is the way I like it! Fingers crossed for no rain this week, although we need it badly, Andy has taken the week off for painting and rain will not be a good thing. Rain next week, okay?
In the meantime, I'm enjoying more of the sights of fall!
Autumn Fig
Fig loves it when it gets chilly! He nabs a blanket for his own and good luck sharing it!
Indian corn
Indian Corn! I love the different, rich colors!
squash
Honestly? There isn't a squash that I don't love. I'm a squash girl! Love them! Love them! My favorite has long been butternut but recently it's been bumped from top honors by buttercup! But one's just as favorite as the other.
so many squash, so little time
So much squash, so little time!
And it is now officially Halloween time in this part of the world. Salem Massachusetts kicked off their Haunted Happenings this week which means the weird factor is now pushed up a notch. Not that there is anything wrong with that. It's just interesting living here at this time of year. What is NOT interesting, though, is the increased traffic in the area.
But you do get to see things like this:
Salem
Which is also intereting. Although not a bit squashy.

Hears hoping for no rain so you can finish up your house. Love the sticker in that last pic!

Oh, I need one of those! I don't think the museum had those when I was there -- which was a good long time ago, admittedly.

Mmm, buttercup/butternut. Why do we have to choose???? I'm thinking of roasting a little pie pumpkin tonight. Yum. With maple syrup, butter, and mace. Yummmmm.

You may have all the squash I am entitled to in my lifetime.

Love that sticker!

Squash, huh? Do you like to eat it, or just look at it and decorate with it? I don't love it plain (too many boxes of frozen orange squash as a kid), but I do like a good squash soup.

I will NEVER forget the witch museum in Salem. CRAZY! And I always where my Salem baseball cap!

HAPPY FALL!
