10.25.2007 :: Ode to the Eveready Diner
"I saw it on the Food Network" I told Leigh and Norma, imploring that we must eat at the Eveready Diner not only for breakfast but for dinner. They agreed, perhaps a bit reluctantly but hey, I had heard it on the Food Network! What I failed to tell them? That I saw it on a show called Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Frankly, I was afraid to admit to the title of the show, lest they believe they were headed for the DIVE portion of the program. I have to admit that I was a bit worried because if it was not GOOD, I would hear it. I mean, I would have given it to them ALL weekend long if I had an icky meal at their insistence! Fair is fair, right?
I do believe that after we raved about the place to everyone who would listen and a couple who would not listen that more knitters ate there the second night. We? Ate there a total of 3 times last weekend. 3. Times. 2 dinners and a breakfast. We planned to go again for breakfast on Sunday morning but decided that perhaps we had eaten enough. This is most likely when we headed right for the chocolate booth at the NY sheep and Wool, but that is neither here nor there.
So here we have, a pictorial Ode to the Eveready!

Seafood Risotto, not your average diner food! I loved it! I wish I had some for tonight!

Norma's Filet Mignon dinner. Should have been called super filet!

Leigh's herb crusted salmon with lobster cream sauce!!! I mean, have you EVER???

Norma enjoying her margarita! Went down very smooth, as did the second one, as I recall! (does that lady in the background crack you up? or is it just me?)

Cabernet for me and Peachy Keen drink for Leigh! (it had sherbet in it!)

2nd Margarita!

Ass Watch for Dave! I tried to get this guy's BEST SIDE over and over. He moved quickly!

another cute one :D

HEY! I am an equal opportunity ass watcher! Not only the young have a beautiful posterior! Some have character!

Do what the clock tells you to....

Sandwiches, pies and Sundaes! (pies are good, I can tell ya!)

name your poison!

Leigh and Ed, he's all hepped up on caffeine!

Huh. Not a great place for an AA meeting

Lots of lights, very kitchy

Leigh and her Cosmo, a happy pair!

What's a diner without friends? Ruth and her beautiful baby!
~~
In review: The Eveready Diner. Eat there.
~~~
Hey Cara, Ann and Vicki! (was there anyone else at your table? I was so busy fogging up the window and making hearts I did not look at everyone!) What did you eat? I'm hoping you loved it! (honestly? If you did not? Cripes, girls! What the heck??!)
:D
I love the Eveready! One of our greatest finds since moving to Hudson Valley! I took Major Knitter there when we met to go to Morehouse. Fun, fun, fun.
Who knew that Dutchess County was such a diner's paradise? Maybe living here isn't as bad as I thought it was. I think I might just drag the hubby to the Eveready for dinner tonight.
You got a photo of Leigh!! I was so sad that I didn't have one. Such wonderful photos -- you definitely had the camera on the right setting in there!
Hmmmm, why am I hungry all of a sudden?
OMG - Not only do I have Rhinebeck envy, but now I've got diner envy. That's one of the best diners I've ever been to. I discovered it courtesy of Jean (aka Scottish Lamb). I'm so glad you found it, too.
Lovely pictures, I am the Midwest Farm AWW correspondent, I had better step up my game. Headed to the coffee shop today!
Chicken and Biscuits. It was good, but I barely touched it because I was so exhausted from the day. And that made me feel kind of sick.
You guys were cute though!
i've seen that restaurant on the show. and i wouldn't worry about the name of the show, lol. i've yet to see a real DUMP on the show (i don't think that's in the title, lol)
Okay. Maybe next year I can give up my fish tacos at the Coyote Grill to try the filet mignon at the Eveready. Maybe.
Definitely dinner at the Eveready next year! Great mouthwatering photos!
we were there saturday and at the same time as you since we saw norma.
melanie and i had a yummy omelet. and ben had the most wonderfully huge plate/bowl/trough of macaroni and cheese. that's all i can remember.
Posted by: maryse on 10.25.2007 AT 09:01 PM
We had breakfast there and it was yum. Next year, dinner too!
Posted by: Kathy on 10.25.2007 AT 08:43 PM
Ruth and I and Liz ate there two years ago before the blogger boom. It was nearly empty. I had a fabulous moussaka that I couldn't finish (although I tried valiantly) and that, alas, seems no longer to be on the menu.
On Saturday night I had roast lamb (one of the few things I can eat!), most excellent. So now I know whom to thank for our finding the place again.
Mmm, nice and meaty. And that steak looks delicious, too. And the risotto. Mmmm.
Posted by: Dave Daniels on 10.25.2007 AT 08:29 PM
Holy crap, that looks good. Real good. I can't believe it's another YEAR before I'm going to be close enough to eat there.
Posted by: Michelle on 10.25.2007 AT 07:41 PM
Well, I also had two margaritas! I can't say whether Ann was more influential with the weekend imbibing or vice versa -- let's just say we were mutual influences.
Oh, for dinner... A pasta dish with chicken that was very, very good. Yum. I could not eat it ALL. I tried.
No crybabies in your group, Sandy! :)
No WONDER everyone was so excited about meeting at the diner after Rhinebeck. That looks delish!
Posted by: --Deb on 10.25.2007 AT 07:05 PM
I had a burger and two margaritas and they were all very, very good. I had breakfast there at the last Rhinebeck and I have to say I think the waffles were the best!
Ooo I love that show but I only catch it once in awhile. I'm jealous I missed the faboo diner!
Posted by: Julie on 10.25.2007 AT 06:05 PM
Yum. What a fabulous diner- and your companions look pretty nice too!
Posted by: Annie on 10.25.2007 AT 05:51 PM
Okay...
Now I'm bitter and hungry.
I'm an avid knitter and happened to stumble across your blog today... I go to Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and as soon as I saw those diner pictures I knew that was our favorite crew-team hangout EVEREADY! I hope you enjoyed eating there as much as we do... welcome to the Hudson Valley! Sadly, I have never been to the Rhineback fiberfest, even though I'm dying to go, because it happens to coincide, every year, with the Head of the Charles River Regatta in Boston/Cambridge... maybe after graduate I'll get to get up there to experience the splendor that is Rhinebeck!
