11.27.2007 :: News that you didn't even know you were waiting on

In Da Hood.
Harry Potter colored baby sweater with cute hood, one sleeve down one to go! Pattern is neck down baby cardi by Knitting Pure and Simple. And it is. Pure and Simple. It has been just what the doctor ordered.
And speaking of Doctor.
5 days ago, but it seems like years, I got a call from the doctor about the back xrays I had done. It appears there is a prominant cyst. I was scheduled for a CT scan which I did yesterday but I don't have to tell you that I have spent the last week with my mind going to some pretty dark places, do I? I was practically writing my farewell blog entry. I'd like to say that I'm kidding but I'd be lying. The call today brought some good news. Or was it? I haven't digested it yet. No cyst. OR WORSE. But some pretty substantial spinal arthritis. "GOOD" news indeed. You won't be getting rid of me that easily.
What I know now: I need to be exercising regularly and to drop a few pounds (and then a few more) would be a good thing too.
But I feel a bit like Mr. Scrooge did after he woke up after the ghosts visited him, renewed. Still in horrible pain, but renewed nonetheless.
So, join my new Scroogey self in a bit of a giggle, will you?

Another big thank you to my MoFo Sisters for being my support. I may need you to support me more....haha (walker joke)

I'm so glad that things are looking up. After all, now that they have figured out the problem, they can get cracking on the solution. :-)
Is the new mattress helping? I hope so.

Love the cartoon. I have decided that I have to go back to Weight Watchers in the new year. I am feeling old and decrepit from arthritis in my fingers. Carry on, Sandy!

I'm glad for your news, while commisserating for the less happy side of it. I have a pinched nerve in my neck that likely stems from some arthritis. The doctor told me that exercise would help. It did. But, I've taken a little break from the gym over the summer (oh, is it almost winter already?!) and noticed that the pain got worse. I think I'll use your post and Norma's as my inspiration to get my fanny back in gear. And losing a couple or a couple of dozen pounds wouldn't hurt me either. And I love the cartoon.

I've never been so relieved to hear someone has arthritis.
Phew.

At least it is better news than it could have been - have to try to look on the bright side. I like Susan's comment about using it to get out of those nasty chores! :)

Sandy, when you start feeling better you might want to check out www.sparkpeople.com for a FREE fitness and nutrition tracker. Lots of motivational info and an online community as well. I get their tips on arthritis regularly. Good luck !

Well, congratulations on the arthritis diagnosis! But when all things are considered (and I know you did consider all of them), this is so much better than the alternatives.
What was it Steph's Joe said? Go ahead....this applies here too.

Take Care Sandy!!! We love ya!

Oh, dear, sorry to hear about the bad news good news. Looking on the bright side, my husband has a back problem and he uses it to get out of all kinds of nasty chores. You can turn this to your advantage, Sandy.

Love the cartoon.
Sorry for the worry you have been going through. Sounds like a "good news-bad news" situation, huh?
For what it's worth, I take glucosamine chondroitin (sp?) for my arthritic knees and it has helped tremendously. I used to not be able to run or even walk without pain and now (knock on wood) I can.

Sorry about the scare and the worries that went with it. Been there and done that and was misdiagnosed for a while. I second Kate on good ortho/ rheumatology care- well worth it even if it is a trek to get it.
Lovely sweater. I'm doing a similar KP&S baby cardigan pattern though no intentional stripes- variegated ones instead.
Hang in there!

Cracking up at that cartoon, and Cookie's comment. I love how my stupid little empty throw-away post has started some trends already. And it's all about ME, isn't it?
Oh, wait, NO IT ISN'T. It's all about Sandy's NOT BAD NEWS!!!! Yay. We were all pullin' for ya. And isn't it prophetic that we had already started down the road to good health? My post for tomorrow is all about it. XOXO

That wasn't a giggle, it was a guffaw. Sorry about the arthritis, but glad you'll be sticking around for a while.

glad to hear you'll be hanging around with us a little longer. sorry you had to worry.

Yay for arthritis! Or, at least, yay for not being something worse. I'm not done with you yet. ;-)
Posted by: Cara on 11.27.2007 AT 07:10 PM
Sorry to hear the bad news. But, I guess it's good that it's not something worse, right?
Posted by: Danielle on 11.27.2007 AT 06:52 PM
Better arthritis in the back than the hands, right? Always looking on the bright side. That's me.

Ha, reminds me of Meg and half the boys she brings home. Not quite snails....

Sandy, if you need orthopedic care, please, please go for consultation at the New England Baptist Hospital. It's a bit of a ride but it's one of the best in the world. My MIL has severe degenerative arthritis but they have just done wonders for her. Local hospitals just don't have the technology level the NEBH does. (hugs)

Well that is great news! That cartoon is cute :)
Posted by: michelle on 11.27.2007 AT 05:52 PM
It's good news because it could have been worse. Right?
I love that little sweater and the cartoon.
Did you know I have a walker and a wheel chair in my garage? Don't ask. I know, right?
♥

Oh Sandy , what awful and good news all at once!
Take care of yourself, and just remember, a little huffy puffy never did anyone any harm (working out, I mean - get your minds out of the gutter!) Love ya hun
