01.05.2008 :: 5. Who needs the gym? I'm lifting iron at home! (Cast iron)
One of my favorite gifts this year was this enamel clad cast iron dutch oven.

Complete with tomatoes on the top!
When I unpacked the box, the inside of the cover perplexed me. A deviled egg holder, I thought?

Those tomatoes are tricky little devils.
First up for the tomato pot? The no knead bread I've seen around. Recipe here.
I can't wait. But of course, I'll have to since this bread takes 24 hours to complete!
Anticipation! It's a wonderful thing, isn't it?

Oooo, I can smell it already. Bread made in that pan can only be perfect.

At first glance like Norma, I too thought your maters were lobsters perched up there. I remember Maryse's post about the bread last year. I lost the recipe and never got to it. Thanks for the link!

that pot is beautiful and i love the no knead bread recipe. one thing, i think it says to bake it for 30 minutes with the lid on and 30 minutes wihout. you might want to take a look at the loaf after 15 minutes without the lid. i think the extra 15 minutes are little too much. just a thought.

The bumps on the inside of the lid are for juices to condense on and drip back down when you do stews or roasts or things that then self-baste (such as chicken). Nice pot :)

Pretty!
When will the bread be done? Cause I'll be there! ♥

Anticipation...anticipay-yay-tion...I anxiously anticipate your no-knead bread recipe review. I've held off making it because I like kneading bread, and I don't quite get why you don't just do the second rise in the pot. I guess I could though, since even the NY Times isn't the boss of my bread-baking. Anyway, I'd love to hear what you think of the bread.

That's BEAUTIFUL! I'm glad you educated us about the tomatoes because, I kid you not, I thought it was lobsters. Hahahahah. Clearly I need my glasses fixed. :)

That is a gorgeous pot, but I hope you have steel-toed slippers just in case.
