01.14.2008 :: 14. Snow day!

snowy branches
When covered in snow, the world seems quieter, softer and more relaxing. You know, except for the shoveling and the strained backs but lets not look ahead of ourselves. (this snow is particularly heavy but again, let's concentrate on the beauty) (stop being so negative) ( :D )
The wind swirls the snow, the trees get a fresh white coating. It's one of my favorite looks around.
Poor hyrdrangea
snow on a tree
snow on ladders
Derek's Com*Cast van, ladders covered in snow, looking like art.
And inside?
One amaryllis getting ready to bloom!
amaryllis almost ready to bloom
And then? I started playing with some camera settings. It was that or have another cup of Penzey's hot chocolate. One is enough. Camera settings it is.
funky amaryllis
solarized amaryllis
All that and knitting.
Flyingdale seed stitch
I love the look of the flyingdales seed stitch! Seed stitch may be a royal pain to pull off, but it's a fine looking stitch!
Loving the seeds.

I adore winter and you captured it wonderfully. Too bad you can't capture the smell! I like the flower pictures also. I need more time to play with my camera. I just need more time period.

I meant to take snow pix but didn't get to it -- thank you for yours! And for the phallocam. Sorry, I mean flowercam.

I see you captured the day as I did. The Flyingdales cardigan seed stitch sings to me reminding me I need to start mine if I can just finish some UFO's.

Oh, the snow is so beautiful and I didn't take a single shot!

Since Norma admitted to the possibility of jealousy on my blog, I'll admit it here, although I am really above that petty emotion, but I want your Amaryllis. I tried to order some last night, but the website froze up and I don't know if my cc was run or not, then I forgot to call today. Mine may fizzle and it might be because they were left in the garage where it might have been too cold. Or they were just grocery store duds from the start. Who knows?

Oh, I'm not going to tell Chappy! He'd be much to jealous--he's so disappointed that our storm fizzled! I TOLD him that he should be grateful that he had so much fun playing this weekend, but no, he wanted snow, too. Poor boy. You can't reason with a disappointed dog--or a kid that didn't do his homework, either!

Beautiful shots, Sandy!

What do I love? Coming home to find Sandy has posted beautiful pictures. Enjoy your blue-tiful blue (word coined by Vicki) evening of knitting and quiet.

Love a snow day! I'm dying to cast on Flyingdales -- just have to finish that silly Central Park Hoodie!

What a beautiful snow! I miss the hush and fresh smell it creates. What great photos! Great seeds too!

Ruh-oh, Norma didn't have a good day, did she?

Looks like your day is heading into its "blue period" -- my favorite part of a winter day.
; )

Beautiful!

Almost makes me want to move. Almost. ;^)

Oh, I really adore seed stitch, and I do not abhor creating it the way some people do. Well, in theory, at least, since, you know, I never really knit anything. Hee.

What I do abhor? Stupid nasty spoiled-rotten undergrad students who need a good swift kick in the ASS.

Hooray for snow days.
