01.21.2008 :: 21. My kingdom for hot water
Haiku:
My hair is so flat
The shampoo does not rinse out
With ice cold water.
Apparently, the plumber forgot that today is Martin Luther King day and he had the day off when he promised us our water heater.
I have to applaud our ancestors, with the boiling of water and the lugging and the weekly bathing. I'm not cut out for living in the past. Give me my amenities! Camping in my kitchen in the dead cold of winter is no fun at all.

I blame Laurie. She mentioned StumbleUpon in her blog. And I fell for it. You should too! Because I'm sure that you have at the very least, an extra hour a day to be spent pushing the Stumble button just to see where it will bring you! (You have to have Firefox as your browser. And why wouldn't you have firefox?)
If I weren't stumbling around, I would not have found this page. <=========click for fun story!

It's blooming day for Amaryllis number 1~

It had advertised itself as white with pink streaks so the red is a nice surprise!
Kind of like my hands after washing them in ice water.

I hope you have it back now! I wouldn't have wanted to do the lugging and minimal bathing thing either.

This is sure a crappy time to have no hot water. Yikes.

Oh, poor Sandy & family... How well I know the pain of No Hot H20 in Cold Weather! This happened to me regularly in my crappy old apartment in East Cambridge. I'd fill two big soup pots with water, heat them on the stove, and use them for a modified sponge bath (one for washing, one for rinsing.) I had this down to a science before I finally got fed up and moved out.
The amaryllis, at least, is red-hot. What a gorgeous color!

You'll get in that shower tomorrow and stay there until Thursday. Or until you run out of hot water.
funny about the bird!

Ice cold sponge bathing doesn't sound like fun. You should have all rung his doorbell and lined up for showers. I'm sure his water is good and hot. Oh, and since when do plumbers have today off? He's probably nursing a major post-Patriots game hangover after all of the partying yesterday!

I'm sorry to hear of your hot water situation. Or lack there of rather. Here's wishing you warm water for hand washing very soon :) BTW your Amaryllis is very pretty.

btw, what setting does one need to stumble upon something like that?

mwahahahaha! You know, you can rate your own site. . .not as much fun as someone stumbling accidentally, but still good.
I just got an amaryllis for a present, and I'm delighted---I thought I'd missed my opportunity this year.

You are ALL ABOUT flaunting the Amarylli, aren't cha?
Wishing for a hot water tank in your immediate future. You don't like pioneering/homesteading, eh? My poor friend, during the big Ice Storm of (gah, what year was it? seems like ages ago, but could it really have been '98?) had to melt pails of snow over her woodstove to flush the toilet. So quit yer complainin. :)

I know, Stumbling can be dangerous. On the plus side, it's very cool when somebody Stumbles YOU!

Love the flower!
Come over! I have hot water, an amaryllis named Susan, and a no wait bathroom.
When you're playing with the StumbleUpon thing, please look for the stitch I just lost. I can't find it anywhere. Thankies! ♥
