02.02.2008 :: 33. "I wandered lonely as a cloud" ~ William Wordsworth
Margene reminded me that it's not only Groundhog day, today is the 3rd annual silent poetry reading!. I'm sorry for the repeat, but I cannot resist posting my favorite poem for today!

(raindrops on daffodil photo taken last spring)
I Wandered Lonely As a CloudI wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shineAnd twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but theyOutdid the sparkling waves in glee;
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company;
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lieIn vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
--William Wordsworth (1807)
Actual clouds wandering in my sky this morning.

A very, very beautiful sky you have today! The sky here is a bit hazy but at least it's blue (for a short time).

It's one of my favorite poems, too, but alas, I cannot read it without being reminded of a Monty Python sketch wherein they are having a Victorian poetry reading and all the "Prams" have something about ants in them.
It's pretty funny. If you like British humor.
I love the daffodil photo.

Boy, a repeat poem AND a repeat photo? Jeez, why did I even bother?
(grin)
Only kidding! How can you complain about Wordsworth?
