02.20.2008 :: 51. some random and a bit of celebrating!

Time to choose the random winner for the Judy Yarn! Thank you all again for the wonderful wishes and comments.
Using my Random Number generator, Alice of Through the Looking Glass Knits is the winner! Alice is a winner! And I mean that with the utmost respect! The rest of you should mob over and buy Judy's yarn. I am not her publicist but I know great yarn when I see it!
Now for other random Wednesdayly things:
1. Is it just me or are Sea Monkeys quite creepy!??
2. Join me in celebrating with Bethany who is now an EMT! She has been studying hard and nervous as anything but she is now officially a licensed EMT in the state of Massachusetts! I'm telling you that if anything ever goes wrong with you, SHE is the one you want. She is now officially looking for a job with an ambulance company! CONGRATULATIONS, BETH! I'M PROUD OF YOU!!!
3. Really, aren't sea monkeys the creepiest?
4. Don't forget to look UP tonight, there is a total lunar eclipse tonight! <----- click link to see if you can see the eclipse and the time to start your looking UP!

I remember being SO DISAPPOINTED as a kid when the sea monkeys didn't really have cute little smiling faces

Are sea monkeys those frogs that you send away for and they grow? Cause my neighbor had one of those that lasted 20 years. No joke.

Posted by: Bookish Wendy on 02.21.2008 AT 08:57 PM

Go Bethany!

Yes, they are the creepiest...what may I ask brought this observation on?

The lunar eclipse was beautiful last night...and I didn't take a darn picture. *smacks forehead*

Yay Bethany!

You do know that sea monkeys are merely brine shrimp, right? They're much less anthropomorphic, and therefore less creepy, than the ads make them appear.

Congratulations to Bethany!!! Woohoo!!

Posted by: Vicki on 02.21.2008 AT 12:20 PM

Sea monkeys: Nasty! Jumping beans always freaked me out, too. Ick!!

Posted by: Nora on 02.21.2008 AT 10:45 AM

Congrats to Bethany! Now you can engage in all manner or irresponsible house repairs and relax in that someone knows how to set a fractured femur while you wait for the ambulance to arrive!

Ewww.. sea monkeys. Reminds me of this equally creepy story I heard from some comedian (maybe Jay Leno) who told of ordering a tiny monkey from the back of a comic book when he was a child. It came in a box and believe it or not, it was a real tiny inch-high= monkey that jumped out of the box and ran around the room. Horrifying, isn't it? I can't even imagine seeing that. Eww.

And congrats to Bethany. Must be nice to have an EMT in the family. :)

Hi Sandi, I just cut off my mermaid hair. Thanks for the very accurate description. It was much easier to blog about it that way!! Heather

Sea monkeys, totally scary. The eclipse was so cool. So frigging cold though I just stepped out onto the front porch for little bits - then ran back inside - then back out, and so on.

No wonder I'm all hyped up and can't sleep. All that adrenalin I had going. *palm on forehead*

Congratulations Bethany! EMTs rock! We have been building up the eclipse to our boys (ages almost 5 and 7+) for days. We could not see it from our house, so I loaded them in their jammies and shoes and puffy coats and drove up the hill. Made 'em get out of the car and sit on the roof of the car to watch the red moon. It was a really sweet moment to share with them, especially when I pointed out Orion's belt and oldest asked me how Orion go this knife up there.

i would go watch the lunar eclipse, except it's so cold here i might just freeze off important bits while i watch! (it was a high of NINE today. sigh)

Especially since sea monkeys were used to raise money for neo-nazis. :P They're just brine shrimp.

Congrats, Bethany! And darn you, woman, for pointing me towards Judy's yarn again! So yummy. I hope the clouds stay away until eclipse time...

Yes Sea monkeys are creepy-I think they are actually shrimp. I forgot to wish you a blogiversary! (and I didn't get into the contest-boo hoo). But I did want to say how much I enjoy your blog and your pictures. Here's to many more years of blogging!

GO BETHANY! I hope I never need you, with all due respect. But if I ever need an EMT, I want it to be YOU!!!! :D

Congrats to Alice, too!

Sea monkeys. Hmmm. I haven't given it much thought, actually. I'll put this on my List of Things To Ponder. :)
