04.02.2008 :: 92. Tart and flowers

Raspberry tart
Raspberry Tart made for a co workers birthday (and an extra one for the tart fans at home)
Shortbread tart shell recipe found here.
Vanilla Pastry Cream recipe found here.
Raspberries provided by the talented Mother Nature.
Okay, that picture had nothing to do with Mother Nature. But I tried and tried to find an appropriate picture or link for Mother Nature and nothing struck my fancy. So, sheep it is. Who's to say that Mother Nature is NOT sheep? I mean, can you prove it?
I thought not.
:)
I digress.
Where was I? Yes. The tart is scrumptious. The shortbread shell is quite a wonderful touch. Crispy and shortbread-y. I wish I could send you a piece.
The recipes can also be found in the Barefoot Contessa Cookbook If you don't have that cookbook I recommend it. (no sheep in that link, sorry)
But there is in THIS LINK.
Flowers:
Flowers, pretty in pink
To celebrate the first Wednesday of the week!
~~
BTW: The red Specialized bike in the Noro scarf pictures is Derek's bike. He loves it and rides often. Well, not yet this year as the weather hasn't quite turned.
~~
Is that it? I have the feeling that I forgot something. Well, tune in tomorrow. Same time, same channel.
In the meantime, eat tarts, smell flowers. Bee happy

do you remember the margarine commercial, where Mother Nature swears it's butter, and then, when she finds out it'snot butter, she gets mad, thunder & lightening happen, and she says "it's not NICE to fool Mother Nature!"

THAT is mother nature, lol.

(was it parkay?)

Hey Sandy,

i just finished up reading your whole blog. i think you are funny and a really nice woman from your posts.

one thing i just cracked up at was that you use the word 'embiggen'. it goes along with one i use: 'smallen', obviously the opposite of embiggen. so now i use them both in their proper place.

i think you can always call this sandy's knitting up until the day you completely give up knitting. we all know that knitting is part of life, not life itself. i am mostly a sock knitter and want to try lace, but have not tried it yet. i live in arizona, so as you can imagine, i don't have much need for mittens, but yours sure are pretty!

thanks for keeping me entertained for a couple of weeks. i'll check in later.

I'm experiencing some serious tart envy here.

I have been wanting to post a comment on here for such a long time but never find the time. Well, I have a minute so it will be brief.

I just want to thank you for posting everyday. I read all your posts and it seems that you think you are boring, but I don't, I think you do a great job and it nice to be able to read about someone else's life and know there is other people out there that are "normal" and try to make the lives of others around them (husband, kids, co-workers) a little bit better. You seem like a very sweet lady.

Thanks again.

How great that you're celebrating the first Wednesday of the week - sounds like you just can't wait for the second one! Um, yeah, and when would that be?

Ohhhh, everywhere I go tonight it's food, food, food! I should be going to the gym. I think I need that Barefoot Contessa cookbook. I've got a million things to say. I'll write you an email now.

Oh, my. Raspberries are my favorite. That looks great, and although I'm not a huge fan of Ina Garten, I'd make it anyway.

My Mr. has a Specialized bike. It's not that weird, is it?

The first Wednesday of the week?! I think today is my slow day. Maybe I need a pepsi. ;^)

Love the tart. I'm sad you can't send me some. Please give Fig my share. ♥
