04.06.2008 :: 96. Make new friends (lace) but keep the old (lace)

Forest Canopy Shawl, looking lovely in cream lounging on the finished Charlotte's Web, my only lace success. (not really because the mirror images of each side are not such mirrors at all but their own entities) (not that there is anything wrong with that) Back when I knit the Charlotte, I thought there might be a future for me as a lace knitter. Yeah, not so much. It is just something that is not easy for me. But this Forest Canopy is a pleasure to knit.

Hey, Annie, remember this Charlotte? This was a gift from Annie who was my Secret Pal way back when the Secret Pal thing was new and fresh. What version are they on now? I can't even keep up. My journey in blogland has changed from wanting to be a heavy hitter in knitting blogs to now just wanting to maintain the wonderful friendships that have been introduced into my life, enriching me. (Okay, FINE, if you insist that I should be a heavy hitter, than I shall wear the title...haha. Only kid-ding)
This lace knitting has been fun and reminds me that I can branch out a bit and still be okay.
It's all good.
I thought Little FCS would grow a bit last night during the watching of the Bee Movie but it did not. I just sat there and enjoyed the movie! Have you seen it? You should. It was hilarious! Funny and amusing for children but savvy enough with the jokes for the adult to chuckle along. It was really good. (I may think twice before swatting at a bee this summer)
It's been the perfect Sunday so far with a leisurely start, some knitting and I even cleaned the kitchen counter. Please, hold your applause. It had to be done. I even shined up the stainless toaster. It's looking spiffy in there. If you don't turn around. Well, the day is young!
I am planning another walk today, time to chip off another 1.3 miles from those 100 Nora miles. It is NOT spring today though. Winter rears it's cold fangs again. But I have wool. I am not afraid.

One word about the Book choice for next time. The book is The Book Thief and I'm thinking that we can take a bit longer than a month so we can allow the people (Julie!:D) to get it from the library wait list.
Sound good?
So, read away, wait for it's arrival and let me know when is good for the discussion.

You'll always be a heavy hitter to me! Major kudos for cleaning the counter and shining the toaster. I mean, really, these are BIG HEAVY-HITTIN' STEPS!!! XOXO

You are the reason I became a lace knitter. It was Charlotte and the Along that brought me to that place. I owe you;-)

I have you to blame for my lace obsession! It was your charlotte-along that induced me to knit Charlotte, my first lace. Mind you, I only just finished my Charlotte a few weeks ago :)

Looking great, Sandy! (The lace, too - ha ha.) Really, I love the cream color - so soft looking.

I do remember that kit! I also remember doing the Charlotte's Web knitalong. I think that was the only way I was able to finish mine- with help and support from new friends like you and Mary Beth. Remember the Everyday Cardigan knitalong? Fun times. :)
I'm going to get on the wait list for The Book Thief. Sounds like a great book.

Oo, and I came by especially to tell you that I put both the cd and a hard copy on my request list. One said I was #9 on the waitlist and one said I was #2 but when I went to pick up books on Friday they were BOTH there waiting for me. Wow, stuff never comes in that fast even when I'm first on the list. I didn't make a peep though, just popped them into my bag (I know, sad, I get so many books I bring a bag with me) and skeedaddled out of there with my book booty. I'm already on page 84 even though I've been sick and can barely keep my eyes open.

You're doing great on the lace, and I'm very impressed with the clean counter/shiny toaster. Wanna come do mine? I'll knit you Monkeys...

I am terrified of lace. Does that make me a bad knitter? Probably.
