04.07.2008 :: 97. Put one foot in front of the other
I can't tell you how happy I am to be out walking again. Terry nagged, erm....encouraged me to go out and walk during the winter doldrums but did I listen? Nope. I am now. I bundled up again today and braved the stiff cold winds and walked my little heart out. Even though that breeze was quite chilly, it was better than yesterday when there was drizzle. Well, it was more than a drizzle and less than rain, perhaps it was a rizzle.
So tonight I was thankful there was no rizzle and the gray sky even parted a bit to show me a bit of blue sky even though it only lasted for a minute or two.
But among my first minute or two of the walk, I spotted 2 slices of tomatoes and a piece of lettuce on the ground. And all I could think of for 1.3 miles was "Why? Why 2 slices of tomatoes and a piece of lettuce?"
It nagged me, it became my mantra. Every step called out 2 SLICES OF TOMATOES AND LETTUCE.
And soon I was home, feeling refreshed, not noticing the cold anymore and no closer to an answer.

Go little turtle, go!

I have nothing against lettuce. It's just the tomatoes and the bugs! At least you had something to contemplate during your walk. That's a very inspiring goal you have!

Maybe this is why there is random food on the side of the road... http://forwardmotion.typepad.com/becca/2008/04/care-for-some-f.html
Congrats on the walking. I am DYING to start walking again. I hurt my ankle in February and haven't been able to do my daily walks and miss it terribly. It just makes you feel better if you know what I mean. Keep at it, you won't be dissapointed!

Hmm. You need some bunnies to rid yourself of the Random Fruit and Vegetable Droppings in your neighborhood.
Good for you for getting out there!! We've had the blessing of nice weather for a few days, so it's a little easier to put in the miles.

Rizzle. You crack me up. And my guess is that there is a veggie-hating burger eater in the neighbourhood. Probably a kid/teenager.

Yeah! I just figured out it is WAY easier to walk on a treadmill than on real terrain. :D Sadly, there are no lettuce and tomato on the treadmill. If there were, I'd be worried.

Your squirrel doesn't like veggies. ;^)

LOL at Margene. That's IT! And all I was going to say was a trite, "These are the great mysteries of life."
However, if that kept you walking and losing track of time? Bonus.
Me, I killed myself doing Tabata squats. But I feel great. Time for dinner now....and it's a healthy one, too!
