For I ate a radish. Or two.

Local Farm radishes, bought yesterday.
I made a radish sandwich, I chose the open faced option.

Under the Francaise tutelage of Maryse, I spread butter on the bread, sliced on some radishes and added some salt.
And?

I ate it. All of it.
My thoughts on a radish sandwich: It was good. Not something I would clamor for but it was a great sandwich for a warm afternoon. I look forward to slicing the rest of the radishes into the local farm lettuce and enjoying it as a salad. I loved the crispiness of it, the slight tang of pepper at the back of my mouth. It was perfectly refreshing and I do not hate radishes.
Imagine that I've lived to be almost 47 years old and I never had one.
And yet? Life went on, hard to believe, I know.

Life went on, but now it will go on just a little better with radishes in it. Time to convert your family.

Inquiring minds (who used to live in the 'hood) want to know which farm? Haven't seen any at our farmer's market near Columbia yet. Hmm.

That looks really neat!
I've never had them like that, I think I'll try it when the farm share starts in a couple of weeks.

Hurray. I love radishes but I've never had them in a sandwich. I'll try that when I harvest mine.
I'm glad you had a good radish experience. Great radish photos, btw.

Yay you! I'm glad you liked them. One thing I really love about them (besides the taste) is that you can grow them so quickly - they're about as close to instant gratification in the garden as you can get.

My parents taught all of us to eat onion sandwiches when the onions are oh, so sweet! I like mine thinly sliced, cheddar cheese, and thinly sliced apples on bread with Miracle Whip. I know it sounds awful! But.... you gotta try it!

As much as I like radishes, I've never had them as a sandwich. I'll have to try that.

I love them with just a bit of salt. Mmmmm!

Yay! My GIRL! You did it, (and you did it right) and you LIKED it! I knew you would. Now you can branch into dipping them in dip (how have you managed to never have one on a veggie platter, I'm wondering?)
It's a perfect early-summer food. They do get a bit hotter and less lovely in hot, dry weather.
But anyway: Go you. :D

Maybe it's the butter that makes them better, works for all sorts of things. ALMOST 47, you can give me the nyah nyah, I have been 47 for a few months now. Pierogies! They are SO good, haven't had any since I lived in central NY, where we'd get them in the spring from the Orthodox churches (I think, some bake sale type event). My favorites were cheese, and lekvar.
