06.20.2008 :: 170. Wow! 170 days of posting! *(Again! I used this title about a week ago when I was numbering wrong!) : OR: Lights, camera, action! MOVIE TIME
Today is the day before the summer solstice. I know it's not a popular position, but I for one am glad that the days will start to get shorter. My internal clock does not let me sit and relax until it gets dark and that leaves precious time to myself in the summer. My eyes close like on an alarm at 10 pm. and if I am not sitting until 9 pm that leaves not a lot knitting/crewel time. And frankly? I miss it.
On the other hand, I seem to be wishing my life away a lot lately. So, for this weekend, I am going to work on being IN the moment. Enjoy the time. Leave the dishes or laundry or whatever. Sit with the family, whether they like it or not, watch a movie! Or two! (Speaking of movie, Bethany and I watched Sweeney Todd recently. We loved it but it is not for everyone, especially the wee ones. How much do I love Johnny Depp? That is one great actor!)
And while I've gone off on the movie tangent, there's always my all time GO TO movies.
Sleepless in Seattle
It Could Happen to You
Family Man
Empire Records
Home Alone
Little Miss Sunshine
Christmas with the Kranks *I love Christmas movies year round*
Hocus Pocus
Edward Scissorhands
Ratatouille
~~~
Off the top of my head those are the movies that I WILL watch, guaranteed if I come across them on tv. The family question goes something like this: "haven't you watched this enough the last 100 times?"
Apparently not.
Do you have favorites?
We don't have TV reception or cable so we don't get reruns. However, I liked the Big Fish so much I bought it. Also Elizabethtown, thanks to you, Sandy. I like that movie so much I once watched it in Spanish on a cruise ship in the middle of the night.
I didn't care much for Sweeney Todd but Johnny Depp can do no wrong. My can't-pass-by-movies? When Harry Met Sally, Chevy's Chase's Vacation, Pretty Woman,and probably lots of others that I can't think of right now.
And please don't wish my summer away! I love summer!
I'm falling asleep early, too and not sleeping well enough. But, I don't want shorter days...no, no, no! I know I'm on the losing end.
Johnny Depp is filming a movie in Milwaukee - come visit. I'll introduce you.
Hoosiers, Remember the Titans, Miracle (see a theme here?), Contact, A Time to Kill, the Bourne movies, all things Harry Potter...
I still fall asleep in my chair at 8:30 when it's light out. I'm going to make a great old person.
I'm sure Fig would love to watch any movie with you, my Sandy. Cats are good that way.
I'm the same with some movies. I've seen Serenity about six times in the last 24 hours. Yes, I realize that says something about my week. o.0
Crap! You really got me on a roll there.
Notting Hill. I can recite it along with each character.
The Natural. My husband can't understand why this one, but I will stay up till past 2AM on a work night, happily knitting and watching it all unfold before me. Again. And again.
Casablanca. 'Nuff said.
I echo Liz's Figgy kisses.
Ah Sandy, what's not to love about Johnny Depp? My sister and her husband (and their classic car) are in his latest movie (swoon-they are filming this weekend in Chicago).
Have a great weekend! I love your movie list! Kisses to Fig.
I'll always watch Annie Hall or The Princess Bride if they're on tv.
And It's a Wonderful Life. That one goes without saying.
I'll have to try Sweeney Todd. If only for Mr. Depp's performance.
Happy summer solstice tomorrow. It's my son's birthday, so it's really special to me.
