07.24.2008 :: 204. Haikai, it's a good thing
I am always fascinated by words. Haikus are some of my favorites, as you may know. But I had never heard of the Haikai before yesterday! Thanks to Terry, I am now enlightened!
The Haikai is a form of collaborative poetry starting with 3 lines, up to 17 syllables total. The next person adds 2 lines, up to 14 syllables total. Alternating these 2 verses, it gets passes around and all have a great time! There are more rules, of course, but not many. Read them HERE <------ CLICK and play along! Leave your name here if you'd like to play and you'll be tagged along the way!
Terry started with this:
Steam heated days
Lightening splits dark skies
Dramatic summer storms.
My addition:
Winds howling through the leaves
Birds clutching branches tight.
The story as it stands now:
Steam heated daysLightning splits dark skies
Dramatic summer storms.
Winds howl through the leaves
Bird clutching branches tight.
I pass the Haikai baton to Margene, fellow wordsmith. (*It's a PUN, Margene, get it??)

Well done! And what Carole said. Put me on the list! What fun: follow the bouncing poem from blog to blog.

Yay! It is going to be fun. I think though, that it alternates three lines, two lines, three lines, two... You get it. I love your addition!

Nice job, and nice of Mother Nature to give you the poetry fodder. At least that's a silver lining to the cloud. Maybe? XO
