07.30.2008 :: 210. Some people take naps on their staycations
First of all, the man that was holding the sign at Shakespeare in the Park?

He did not find anyone to share his blanket or blueberries. At the time I have to admit that we all kind of snickered at him. We are all ingrained with a mistrust of strangers and this just smacks of maniac, doesn't it? But then Norma and I got home and looked at his picture and he looks like a well groomed, learned, lonely man. Which makes me a bit sad that I did not even think to say hello to him. If I could turn back time perhaps I would have given a hoot.
Norma has now left my home for the long, super dooper long drive back to Vermont made even longer by a wrong turn for her. We had such a great time and I'm so grateful for friends like her. Thanks, Nor for sharing my staycation!
We went to Rockport today and had a blast. Here's a bit of a photo gallery of our day!

Norma contemplates the sea
The girl and the fig
Anybody want a fisherman?

(Right about here we met one of the rudest men that we've ever met who said, not once but twice to us as we were taking touristy type pictures, "DO YOU MIND? I'm trying to get a photo of the whole statue". I ducked. He did not know he was messing with! I knew that Norma would rip his head off and beat him with it! She said "Do YOU mind? We are here taking pictures too!" Or something. I was busy shaking. She spoke up. I was proud. He was such a jerk! Little did he know that we'd blog all about his ugliness! haha!)

We shared a wonderful lunch at Woodmans in Essex. Erm, this is what was left of it when we thought about the camera.

The sky was a mixed medium of clouds. It was a gorgeous day!

If I drank coffee, this would be my motto! Because everything goes better with a motto!

Lost your Muse? I found it!

And this garden? Really, it's a good thing I do not live there because that would have been some treacherous weeding that Norma would have had to do. She had it easy in my postage stamp weedy yard!
And tonight I have to go to bed early. This staycationer is tired!

Yay for Norma standing up to the rude guy. What was he thinking? People like that think the world revolves around them. Irritates me just to think about it!
Your vacation sounds like it has been wonderful!

What a fun day. The jerk will get his - they always do, eventually.
I'm laughing at the coffee saying, since today seems to have a coffee theme to it.

Missing you and all of it (except for jackhead) already!

It strikes me as weirdly funny that people hold up signs as the look for companionship at the play. I'd walk the other way, because I'm shy like that, but really, it might be fun to join them. Or at least interesting.

This is such a happy post! I'm so glad you had so much fun together.

You did go to Woodmans!! Haven't been in ages- a definite must sometime this summer. When I return from my vacation. :-) Glad to hear Norma ripped the jerk a new one.

I'm just happy my turn for Norma is next. What time does your plane arrive? ;-)

Sounds like a wonderful day. I'm jealous that you went to Woodman's!

Yeah, if I'd been there, I would have said things that would have made Norma blush! I HATE jackasses like that, and have gotten pretty good at mouthing back at them "What? You work for National Geographic? Here, take a photo of THIS!" And I'd have done some nasty gesturing, and then blocked his view. And then taken his photo and posted it on SEVERAL of my websites. And his arse, too, just for AWW. Because, yeah, jacks like that really need a wake up call. Prickhead.
And I'm still jealous of your lobster rolls.

I am sooo sorry I couldn't make it in last night to join you for Shakespeare in the Park. It looks like you and Norma had a wonderful visit. I love the pic a few entries back, of her weeding your yard, while Fig watched!
We'll have to meet another time!

You should have taken his picture for the blog. Then people would know the rude man when they see him.
I'm so glad you two got to have some time together.

Lovely. The girl and the fig is perfect too. Oh and the coffee saying. I'm so happy that you're enjoying your staycation.
((hugs))

After seeing that picture, my first instinct would have been to run away, but after thinking about it, I feel bad for that guy. I understand safey, but its getting harder and harder to draw the line. I was at the grocery store yesterday, with my 86 year old father. He walks with a walker, and is very unassuming. He looks like just what he is, and old man who loves people. He waved and said "hi", to a toddler in a carriage, and her mother yelled at her for talking to strangers, and then cussed him out for talking to her! Have been a lurker for a while, but I love your blog!
