08.19.2008 :: 230. I carry a torch for the Olympic games

I have been enjoying the heck out of the Olympics! I love to watch the gymnastics and the high diving and the synchronized swimming and the trampoline! I scoffed at the trampoline being an Olympic event, until I saw them perform. A far cry from my days at doing the seated bounce and turn.
Speaking of Olympics:

I guess I missed that competition.
And my all time favorite Olympic moment?

Pardon, I need a tissue.

I didn't know they had trampoline events?! I watched the same things you did. Those athletes are amazing! And thanks for posting those two YouTube videos. The runner is amazing because as a runner, you ALWAYS finish the race. And OMG the gymnast?!!? Paulina Huntova?? ROTFL!!!!

Thank you! I've seen the Visa commercial, but never the whole story of Mr. Redmond & his son. Great, tearful, moving stuff! I can only hope my parental support abilities measure up to Mr. Redmond's.

I laughed. I cried. Brilliant. My favorite moment of this games is the interview with Walter Dix after the 100m race. He was so happy to win the bronze and was asked about Usain Bolt winning - he said 'what can I say? The man can run.' Understatement of the year!

I'm such an Olympics junkie--I'll watch almost anything! And I shudder to think of how many hours I've spent watching the Olympics this last week ...
