09.20.2008 :: 262. no pumpkins and a list of good things for a Saturday

My pumpkin plant has grown big, humungo leaves, plenty of flowers daily but not a pumpkin. Not one. It disappoints me but encourages me to try again next year. I'm determined to have a pumpkin that I've grown on my porch!
~~~
A great Saturday includes:
~seeing Claudia and shopping Penzeys together!
~the delivery of my LL Bean order. (I love their jeans) I placed my order on Wednesday night and had the jeans in my hands on Saturday morning!
~a trip to the apple farm with Bethany
~buying fresh, local honey
~eating warm cider donuts
~sprinkling Penzeys Chicago seasonings on steak tips grilled for dinner
~munching a fresh, crisp, tart apple (make mine macoun thank you!) after dinner!
~sitting with a little gray cat and a blanket watching movies
~~
Mine was a great Saturday. How was yours?
So, did you like the Chicago Steak??
Hey, gotta love LLBean! I am a recent convert to the fleece-lined jeans. Put on a pair and you are WARM! Plus they give you that nice, comfortable, padded look.
Oh, I'm sad about your punkins. Don't know what could be the problem there -- sounds like lack of pollination, maybe? Hmmm. Anyhoo, try again!
I love me a Macoun -- I bought a bag of them last week and they were scrumptious. Heading back out to the farm stand again today. (the one we visited) San! They have local chicken for 1.60 less per pound than I can buy it (same "brand") at Healthy Living! I'm going to go get enough to fill up the freezer!
That does sound like a perfect Saturday! I was going to ask the same question about your pumpkin as Charlotte asked. Pumpkins need sex, too.
I had a good Saturday, too. I got a haircut and color and then spent the afternoon making dinner for friends. We had roast chicken, mashed potato, gravy, acorn squash and brussel sprouts. Oh, and pumpkin pie for dessert!
Pumpkins can be persnickety - you just have to keep trying!
I spent Saturday washing alpaca and photographing dead plants.
That sounds odder than it is...
Hmm. Vewwy interesting. Maybe the lack of bees??
Good Saturday here - cleaning, knitting, listening to podcasts, and eating pasta in preparation for my run this a.m.! Yours sounds fabulous.
I know nothing about gardening but were your pumpkin flowers pollinated? Maybe Norma knows why you didn't get a pumpkin.
That is a giant leaf.. For LL Bean instant gratification you can always check out thier Burlington location. Can't argue with jeans that fit!
