Anybody else musing how a hunter's hat came to be full of holes?
Yours in insomnia, grace

Is she nuts? Hunting season is upon us! Unless she is a KNITTING WIZARD, how's she gonna get 'em done in time??? Hahahaha.
P.S. She's not expecting YOU to do it, is she????

Commenting from Rome :) Cascade 220 has oranges. I've been doing pumpkin hats and have been on the lookout for oranges.

LOL! My FIL prefers bright red for his hunting caps. Your post reminds me that I need to knit him a new one because his old one is full of holes.

You can buy great orange caps at the hunters store. Why sear your eye balls with orange yarn?

Wool Pak Blaze Orange at Susan's Fiber Shop, Bartlett Yarns, Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride and Briggs & Little actually have a shade called Hunter's Orange in their Heritage Yarn. Thanks for a great gift idea for a neighbor of ours!

I'm giggling here, thinking of the hunters I knew growing up wearing handknit hats of lovely fibers rather than the stuff they'd pick up at the Fleet Farm.

Oh and Tahki Zara plus (superwash) has a great orange that's on sale at Jimmy Beans Wool....

You might try Lambikins worsted in Orange, or Classic Elite Renaissance in Portofino Orange, Or Crystal Palace's Iceland in Pumpkin, or Filatura di Crosa Zara in color #1762, or Plymouth Galway Worsted in #091, or (probably my favorite) Tahki Torino in #121

Firebird Orange from Peace Fleece is a pretty close match according to the color on their webpage...

My daughter's BFF is in love with the color orange (the brighter the better) so we recently went on a quest for the brightest orange yarn for a pair of fingerless mitts. I pulled out my notes...Cascade 220 #9542 and 9444, 220 Superwash #825 and 907 (heathery), Dale of Norway Falk (more of a DK/sport) #0301 (neon), Brown Sheep LP worsted Orange You Glad M110 and Superwash Blaze SW145 (fiery orange), Webs Berkshire Orange (warm orange, very soft), and handpaintedyarn.com handspun bulky (it knits somewhere between heavy worsted and light bulky- it's generic Manos or Malabrigo) in color Papaya. Most of the other yarns we looked at were more pumpkin-y or the wrong weight. We are seriously considering just getting undyed wool and dyeing it ourselves. (That's what Kool-aid is for, right?) Good luck on your quest.

My B-I-L is a serious hunter and I made him a hat last year out of orange Cascade 220. He loved it. He said it was the perfect color.
