12.04.2008 :: 27. I had Christmas down in Africaaaaa

~Still knitting: making some good progress on the Town and Country. I have not strayed. Honestly, who knew I could be so faithful to one knitting project?
~still worrying: About Fig. He has a vet appointment Friday afternoon. He had such a great day yesterday and today he seems a bit weaker. But he's not throwing up as much today. Too bad because the carpet in the living room was making it's way to being a polka dotted 2 tone. I could be onto a new fashion trend.
~Ick
~Note to self: Rent a steam cleaner
~OR: Finally get rid of that carpet which has been my plan for way too long.
~Here's today's Christmas cheer. I do hope you'll watch this because it is great. I have heard this song on the radio a couple of times in the last few days and enjoy their talent so much.
(Do you love it, Gayle?)
~Oops, sorry, private joke.
~Gayle sent me the link yesterday to share. And I had already planned to show it here today. I told her to act "surprised"
~There: Don't you hate it when there are private jokes and you don't know what it is? Now you do.
Now, HERE is the cheer.

I have an older cat (15) who throws up a fair amount, though this is not terribly unusual for her. I have had her since she was a kitten and she's always had a habit of eating too quickly and being sick. I spoke to my vet once about how to distinguish between "my cat threw up and I should be concerned" and "my cat threw up because that's what she does." The vet said that it really came down to how the cat was acting in the time following the vomiting-- does that cat seem uncomfortable, listless, is it hunching up and hiding underneath furniture? Or did it vomit, and then move a few paces away and seems much like normal, watching you with interest as you clean it up, looking very much like its regular self? Of course it is good care to get Fig checked out, but per my vet's advice, for me it is less about 'did the cat throw up?' and more about 'how does the cat seem to feel in general?'

Good luck to you.

Hi Sandy - where are mittens going this year? Any ideas?
I am thinking of you and Fig today. We who love and have animals in our lives understand.

These guys are great! And I loved yesterdays song -- having lived in the Boston area for 6 years, I still have a really soft spot in my heart for that city!

Sandy, I'm so sorry about Fig. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and praying that the vet visit helps.

Thanks. It's been a bit hard to feel any Christmas cheer this year. Have you ever been to the Christmas Revels, in Cambridge? It's a special kind of concert, well worth a periodic visit.

Cute. And I LOVED yesterday's, you could only rhyme "la" with "are" in your neck of the woods.

How about knitting in Africa? Leave it to me the social worker, see my current post.
