100 mitten knitters
I have updated the list below. Again, let me know if I missed you. It happens. Not intentionally. It would be nice if I would alpahbetize the list, but not tonight. I must knit. Mittens.
Here's the rules in case you are thinking of joining. I'm a stickler for rules ;)
1. Knit mittens
2. knit them now
3. or later
4. just knit them
5. You must finish them
6. Or not. Your call
7. Share your progress with me
8. I know that Tuesday is Knitalong day in some worlds, but here it will be MItten Monday. Sunday would be a good day to email me with updates.
9. Be happy and have warm hands!
~~
Please leave a message here on the Warm hands part of the blog on the weekends and Sunday or Monday night I will try my darn tootinest to get an update done!
Deal?

I'd like to join - I have a several mitten projects in mind....

After careful review of the very stringent rules, I would like to join and pledge that I will follow the rules no matter what...I will start by making a pair of fulled mittens. Purple with grey fulls...someday...soon....or not.

Sign me up! I woke up this morning with the sudden sure knowledge that I absolutely need to knit a pair of thrummed mittens. They're going to be my hope-mittens, in the hope that by the time it's cold enough to wear them, I'll be out in sunny San Francisco with my boyfriend and will have no use for them.

What Angie said about following rules. Sign me up too please.
Or am I just missing my name? Could be, gotta find those glasses!

Thank you so much for my first ever comment. I guess I'm official now. If you are comfortable with it, please send me your address - I'd love to send you a prize.

Hey, Sandy! I have an update, but I can't find your e-mail address anywhere. Can you post it for us? Or get me some glasses, as I am evidently blind?
Thank you!

I'd like to join! I was already getting ready to start a pair when I saw your blog. I'm gonna try a pair from Latvian Mittens...got the book and yarn at Knit Picks...

I too would like to join the mitten knitalong... and follow the rules and pledge to sort of knit mittens or something like mittens since i've never knit mittens or gloves. i am quite apprehensive about it as well as very excited! a whole group of knitties like me. or not!

I would like to join. I so need encouragement to overcome my mitten troubles. Sigh. Looking forward to meeting loads of friendly, funny, helpful mittenknitters! (what a word)

I can report another finished pair of mittens, improvised from stash yarns! I also bought Robin Hansen's book Favorite Mittens, which reproduces a lot of her earlier out-of-print books on different types of folk mittens, their histories, and techniques.

Hi!
The first pair of mittens is finished! I said the first, hope to get more done later...
The new pages and the new button are beautiful!
Happy mitten-knitting, Leena

I am working on a pair of mittens from "Magnificent Mittens". They are coming along nicely.

I'd love to join too... we always need mitts at our place.

The Hooray for Urban Broads convertible fingerless gloves/mittens are coming along. It's time to knit the fingers:

Just to let you know that I've started my (first?) mittens - Paradoxical Mittens by Lucy Neatby, and and excellant, fun pattern. I'm using some black and red wool from stash.
Dawn:)

I have left a few comments, but I must have been lost. Please add my name to the list. I am making a pair of mittens from sock yarn knitted with lace weight kid mohair. Should be nice and durable and warm. I got the idea from the 365 day knitting calendar. Thanks Sandy for having another knit-a-long.

Okay, I think this is where I leave an update. The first of the convertible mittens is through the glove part, complete with thumb. Next step is to pick up stitches and the knit the mitteny cover. These are going a lot faster than I thought, which is a good thing since they are the first of 2 Christmas projects I've just added to my list.

Ack! I'm right where I left off two weeks ago, but that was before I joined the MAL, so I can still consider this an "update," right? I'm going to have to hire some little mice to weave in all the ends on those Nordic Mittens.

I just started my son's mitten last night. Something simple but hopefully a learning experience for a newbie knitter.

Hey there, I'm working on the Floral Fair-Isle Gloves and I've got 'Knitting Marvelous Mittens' in the mail...my hands are definitely going to be warm this winter!
Can I still join?
Posted by: Julia at November 1, 2005 12:21 PM
I'd love to join. I've recently been bitten by the mitten bug. Tufted mittens come to mind as a first project...

After three mittens in the same color, I have two good ones! Yay! A pair, um, and a half. LOL! There's a picture of them on my blog, as soon as I get over there and update it.

I have no blog, but love reading them! I would like to be the Johnny come lately and join the warm hands knitalong since I'm already knitting them for my daughter and nieces for Christmas. I finished a pair for myself in Cascade Tweed and I love, love, love how it turned out. I finished one lavender mitten for my 5 year old niece yesterday. Can I join, pretty please????
Posted by: linda at November 2, 2005 03:14 PM
I would love to join this, my first, knitalong. I have already made 1 pair of mittens a couple of months ago. Nancy was driving me nuts with "Jane, knit me some mittens!" Acrylic, blue yarn, but still mittens. Now I need to start some for the grandkids. So please sign me up.
Posted by: Jane at November 4, 2005 06:15 AM
May I please join too? I've never participated in a KAL and I've never made mittens, but I'd love to try both! Thanks!
