MItten Monday, November 14th edition

Mittens! Who's got mittens? So much inspiration around. Check them out!
Leena run, do not walk over to Leena's blog to see Miss B. and her mittens. Have you ever seen anything so cute?
Sherry W is knitting Paradoxial mittens!
Kathy finished a pair of Frostrosen mittens from Nordic fibers! I love them!
Julia finished a right fair isle glove. The left hand will be warm soon with it's cast on glove! check them out!
Kara finished a pair of felted mittens. What a great pattern with an inner cuff to keep out the cold!
Mary finished one lovely blue mitten made from Bartlett yarns, one of my favorite yarns.
Blogless Nancy who may or may not need glasses, is done one mitten and is halfway done her second, running out of yarn has stopped the process. Poor Nancy needs a trip to the yarn store!
Maureen knits gorgeous mittens period. I cannot see the thumb, can you?
Sarah is planning fingerless mittens for cold handed family members!
Helen has the most finished objects in one weeks as I have ever seen. Ever. Great knitting, Helen! She made an oven mitt! I'm impressed!
Cassie thinks she sucks, but I know better! :) The braid edge takes a bit of concentration, but you'll get it! In the meantime, you will have warm feet and that is not a bad thing!
Diane has inspired me to try mittens with bulky yarn. Go see hers! And keep in mind that they are her own creations!
Renada finished the frostrosen mitten! It's a beauty! Do they really have a lining?
Liz has got her latvian book and yarn all ready! What are you waiting for? Aren't your hands cold? She has a cute cat, though.
Kathy has got her pattern all ready. A pattern does not keep your hands warm though. But I'm not nagging. She can knit them. Or not. As per the rules.
Mary Beth not only finished a lovely pair of malebrego mittens, she started the cuff of a pair of magnificent mittens!
Knitting nurse is knitting a great pair of flip top mittens. I love the colors!
Jackie has a gorgeous mitten with a colorful latvian cuff and a pair of estonian mittens in the works. The Estonian mitten looks very familiar to me!
Samantha has an adorable soft pink pair of mittens done!
Folkcat, who I may have even missed on the LIST, joined, started a pair of fingerless mittens and finished all in one day! Wow! She is offering her great fingerless mitt pattern, Freedom Mitts as a PDF download. Go get yours!
Anne has a stunning pair of mittens started from the Latvian mittens book. The blue and white is really catching my eye!
Laura started a pair of Nordic mittens, thereby starting a new addiction. Welcome to my world!
Melissa finished a cute embelished pair of fingerless mittens!
Mandy has the cutest little pair of mittens she claims are cherry tree hill potluck. IF THAT is what potluck is all about, I'm loving it!
Liz started a pair of fingerless mitts. Also proclaiming them to be Texas Mittens, which made my day!
Candace has a fingerless mitt finished and a great pair of stripeys.
Rob who I hope is feeling better, has mittens boucoup on her blog. Go see! She inspires me!
Mitten inspiration abounds! Go ahead, knit some, you know you want to!

Let's see...I started my fingerless mitts last Wednesday. I signed up for Warm Hands on Thursday afternoon, and finished my fingerless mitts Thursday night. I posted the pictures to my blog on Friday, and posted a comment somewhere here saying that I'd finished the same night.

For those who are interested, I created a PDF with the pattern for my Freedom Mitts, and posted it at my blog today. http://www.folkcatart.com/knitaround. It's my first free pattern offering. Hope you enjoy it!

So that's what...5 days from start to published finish. Not bad!

I started my Latvian mittens! I'm addicted - just started the decreases (although I think they may be very poorly done and I might need to rip back and restart them - eek!).

No-Blog-Linda from Ohio has finished a pair of lavender mittens using the (free) 2 needle mittens patterns from the Lion Brands website. SOOO easy! I finished in two days (and I am not a fast knitter) I used a Cascade worsted wool and they will be great for my niece in Colorado. I'm just waiting for my sister to choose a coat for my other niece to make hers. Then on to my kids...

Blogless Nancy has bought more yarn and finished her driving mittens. Now I am thinking about starting some with cables in a nice deep red.

Okay, I'm back in the game. I got back from New Orleans Sunday and I'm ready to pick up those Nordic Mittens. Update soon!

Posted by: Cheryl at November 15, 2005 08:03 PM

I finished more mittens too.
I want to try making a pair of colorwork mittens but not sure how to control the tension around the double point needles.

Posted by: Paula at November 16, 2005 11:27 AM

Hi!

I finished my Gotland Island mitts. Photos on my blog.

To Paula: re tension on dpns for colorwork, use 5 dpns! you can then lay the needles horizontal to each other at the joins.

Finished my Covered with Color mittens. Starting some Dales.

Glad you like the Texas Mittens! Most ardent knitters seem to be in areas of the country where the weather will accomodate their passion. My climate is wool-challenged.

Posted by: Liz at November 17, 2005 01:33 PM

I just started a new pair of mittens yesterday and have nearly finished the first one, I just need to knit the thumb. The photo on my blog from this morning is already outdated.

Um, I am making a teensy bit of progress, if one calls scribbles on a piece of paper progress. (I do.)

I will have an entry on monday!
Thanks Sandy!

Posted by: meg at November 18, 2005 06:22 PM

I have a finished pair of mittens in my November 19th entry! Yeah! Now I just need to finish at least one of the North Star mittens.

Posted by: Meghan at November 20, 2005 06:30 AM

I finished a sock, and maybe by Monday morn 2 socks! And the Irish Hiking scarf is fini! And I started another mitten! Folk Knitting in Estonia is addicting!

Posted by: genia at November 20, 2005 09:26 AM

Wow! Once again, everyone is knitting such great mittens! No shortage of inspiration here.

I finished the long overdue fingerless mittens I've been working on, and have cast on for a gift pair in cotton that are destined for a wool-o-phobic friend.

Posted by: Candace at November 20, 2005 11:35 AM

okay! finished my Chipman's block mittens. now i must finish other gifts before making myself some mittens!

Posted by: helen at November 20, 2005 03:15 PM

Well I forgot to leave a status report last week, but hopefully I'm not too late for this week.

My convertible mittens are all but done - need to finish weaving in some ends and graft the end of one of them. So one more Christmas present out of the way!

Hmmm, but this has tempted me into kitting up for 3 more pairs of mittens!

Posted by: blogless Mary in Virginia at November 21, 2005 07:50 AM

I finished my first pair of mittens. Check my blog to see my Little Man showing it off.

Posted by: Bear Knits at November 21, 2005 10:07 AM

Texas Mitts are complete! Now I need to knit a few pair for Dulaan!

Posted by: Liz at November 21, 2005 11:55 AM

Update! I did a part two, the second mitten to match one that had probably give up hope for its mate.

The cuff is done on the little Nordic mitten. The future owner declared it 'cool'.

Posted by: Laura at November 21, 2005 02:00 PM

Does anybody have a latvian mitten pattern? I made a mitten several years ago and lost the pattern to make the other mitten!!
Thanks,
Lisa
