When you accept the invite to the wordpress blog (Pay attention, this is important) You must make sure that the FIRST NAME in the profile section is filled in.
Clear as MUD?? I'm adding this in after, so read the below first then come up here and get explanation.
The new blog
http://sanhurl.wordpress.com/
has been set up to replace this one. The new Warm Hands Blog will enable you to post your own entry to update us all on your mitten progress! WHOOHOO!
Better yet? Or am I still being confusing??
Go ahead, tell me, I can take it!

Warm Hands is undergoing a change. It is now your knitalong! Instead of waiting for me to update, you can now post an entry! This is very exciting for me as I am often feeling bad about not having the time to dedicate to it. Instead of feeling badly or letting the knitalong slide away, I have set up a blog of it's own!
http://sanhurl.wordpress.com/
Check it out!
Now, what you need to do is this:
First, check to see if your name is on the list. AN ALPAHBETIZED list, as you'll notice!!
If not, comment there to let me know and I'll add you. I'm sure I have forgotten some. If you want to join now, there is always room for more warm hands in the world!
SECOND: leave a comment here complete with your email address (which is automatically done as you sign the comment page) so I can send you a wordpress invite to be a contributor to the Warm Hands blog.
THEN: You will then receive an email and you must accept the offer to "make a blog". But you do not have to make a blog, just register. Then register a name and email address and you will be added as a Contributor to this blog: Now patience will come in handy for you as I pick away at the details of adding everyone in!
THENTHEN: You can post entries there all by yourselves! No more waiting for me to get off my duff! NO more of me forgetting someone!
Fun times!
Warm Hands has RISEN!

Halloween may be spooky, but beautiful mitten knitting is not!
Have a peek, boys and ghouls!
~~~
~Leslie has had snow in Buffalo, NY! Check out her wonderful new pair of mittens made out of Brown Sheep Burlyspun! Just in the nick of time!
~Karen finished a lovely (Don't listen to her claiming knitting stupidity) pair of fetching handwarmers! And they are! Fetching. She's also working on a gorgeous pair of socks. But that's another extremity to keep warm!
~Deborah finished a lovely pair of mittens in Knitpicks Swish Superwash for her son! Warm hands for the boy! It's a fetching week! Deborah is knitting a pair of Fetchings for her daughter! Popular pattern! Try it if you haven't yet!
~Nancy finished a pair of mittens for her son! Hooray! Unfortunately she hated knitting them. Her son's hands will be warm nonetheless! I love them, Mancy! (got your blog plugged in! :D)
~Yvonne has finished a second pair of red mittens. Red Warm Hands! She is now looking for a pattern for Lobster Claw Mittens. You heard me! Check out the picture on her October 22 entry!
~Maud is a mitten knitting machine. She has finished a gorgeous pair of basketweave mittens, October 23rd entry and a stunning pair of haruhas handwarmers! Breathtaking knitting! As if that is not enough, she is making headway on a pair of Rosebud mittens! Lots of warm hands around Maud!
~Maggi created another pair of Newfoundland mittens!
She will share the pattern with you too, that is what a lovely person she is! Go ahead, read her blog and find out how!
~Tracey has secrets. And she's sharing them! But you must promise to keep the secret. No telling! Swear on your needles!
She is super secret knitting some Christmas gifts for her daughter out of pink and purple Andean wool and proclaims them amazing! I believe it! When she moves her blog from her family webpage, we can get a glimpse! I can't wait! Shhhh!
~cindy joined the knitalong and finished a pair of Cornflower Mitts lickety split! 2 words: KOIGU KERSTI! Go see!
~Billie-Jean is working on a pair of Fetchings (see? I told you this was A Fetching Week!) in her beautiful blue handspun! Her hands get cold at hockey rinks, Fetching allows those cold hands to still knit AND be warm. Kind of like peanut butter and jelly!
~Suz has been curling up with Harry Potter movies and creating a bit of mitten magic! One mitten done!
~Elizateth has succumbed to a bit of Fetching knitting! I'm personally glad!
~Macarena is knitting up some fingerless mittens!
~Poor Forgotten Norma in a moment I shall call, "If my head were not attached, I would forget that too"! Norma finished one fantabulous mitten! HOW O HOW could I have forgotten that with a twin mitten kit sitting right next to me? HOW??? LOVE THE STRIPES, NOR!
can you forgive me??
See Norma's mitten?
Gotta love stripes!
~~~~
check out the expanding list of knitters!
Warm Hands Abound!
Trick or Treat!
Have I forgotten you? Let me know at areyourhandscold@gmail.com Be gentle, though, I'm trying!

~~~~
~Meg finished one beautiful mitten that is a gift for her sister along with knitting lessons to finish the second mitten! Great idea, Meg!
~Maud has so many wonderful mittens in progress, you have to go see for yourself! Very inspiring, Maud! No ones cold hands are safe in Maud's presence!
~Paula is all but finished a pair of mission falls advika mittens! They look great! She also reminded me that I have one almost finished advika mitten around here somewhere. She's got some great morning glories too. Not that those would keep anyone's hands warm, but they are easy on the eyes!
~Elizabeth has finished a pair of mittens for her daughter and is in the process of picking out a pattern for her husband's pair. Pictures to follow!
~Blogless Elizabeth Durand (at least I assume you are blogless as well as photoless, right Elizabeth?) finished 2 pairs of mittens even before she knew that she was joining in our knitalong! Great job, with the ESP! She finished One pair a sort of lichen green handspun, going to Afghans for Afghans. Another pair, oatmeal colored Bartlett-type wool with spruce green ljus [as the parent of a grade-schooler, I refuse to say lice!], going to the Irish Ewe’s Mitten Fence, in Norway, Maine. I'd like to know more about the mitten fence, Elizabeth~
~Cathy had a bit of trouble settling in on a pattern until she decided to go with the tried and true basic mitten. Nothing basic about warm hands! She also finished a pair of felted mittens!
~Whitney finished Estonian Inspired mitten number 1. One warm hand. I got a bit woozy when I clicked on Whitney's blog. Be sure to check out that picture. This would mark the first time in my life that I wish I were on the NATO summit planning team.
~Suz has one finished mitten and one in the works. Great colors! I tried to upload the picture here, but for some reason it is being shy. It does not want to be here in front of everyone. Go ahead to her blog and see it!
~Pat has finished a great looking pair of Rainbow Mittens! Very Colorful! Very Warm looking! and Very inspiring, I'm sure you'll agree! Pat's hands sure do look warm!
~Rebecca has made a good start on the Nordic Mittens from Interweave knits. Which looks very familiar to me! Extra blog points to those that recognize why! Warm hands on the way for Rebecca!
~Lisa has started a pair of Knitting Pure and Simple Super Bulky mittens with some Rowan Biggy Print! Super, indeed! That will be some warm hands for teachers!
~And ME! I knit some Fetching handwarmers.
These are great for the computer cold hands.
~~~
Send along your mitten updates for next week's mitten monday to
areyourhandscold@gmail.com
I have some more names to add to the list! Always room for more mittens in the world!
~Maggie has been very busy!

They are called Newfoundland mittens and I'm in love with them!
~Pat has finished the cuffs on her Rainbow mittens! Check them out!
~Meg proclaims her mittens D-U-N. I'm nuts about them! (heh. Nuts.) You won't see mittens with squirrels everywhere. I LOVE them!
~Brigid has finished a pair of warm looking stripey mittens. She's now working on some pretty good looking fair isle gloves! I'm in love with her gloves!
~Maud has finished a gorgeous pair of flower mittens. She's already started another great looking pair! She is an inspiration!
~Yvonne is knitting up a storm, finishing a pair of "mismatched" mittens and almost finishing a red pair. She's on vacation at the moment, I hope she's able to knit!
~Missyjoon started (and restarted) fingerless mitts from the Not Just Socks book! Great colors!
~Nancy is in the midst of the Target Wave mittens. I love the way the thumb looks on it. Nancy's not happy with it yet. Keep plugging, Nancy, it will come!
~Cookie has finished a great pair of fingerless mitts of her own pattern. Talented! They look warm, cute and very very useful. Did I say, "WARM"?
~Genia (who has a blog just for mittens, by the way!) has a story about an almost finished mitten. But she had a computer crash. We all feel your pain, Genia. We'll wait. Any snacks?
~Paula finished a pair of pink mittens in honor of Breast Cancer Month! (you HAVE done your breast exam, haven't you? Don't make believe you are a man! I KNOW!). Paula is also working on a lovely pair of mittens that she deemed the London Fog Mittens and reading a creepy book. Tis the season!
~Kimberly has finished some mittens out of one of the most wonderful feeling yarns there is. How do I know? She shared some of that yarn with me! Heaven in a skein~
~~
I know that your hands are cold. Knit something, anything for them! Again, thanks for your patience.

Here's the list of Mitten knitters! (remember, I use the word "MITTEN" generically. You may be knitting gloves. Or fingerless hand covers. Or you may be wrapping yarn around your hands and calling them warm. It's all the same to me!

Check this list often, this is where I will add new names as people join in!~~~~~

A FEW THOUGHTS!
1. It is never too late to join this knitalong. Remember, we are just knitting to warm hands. Not get prizes or fame. Okay, maybe fame. But no prizes. Join anytime. There is no time limit!
2. If you leave a comment to older posts on this blog, they will not show up until I approve them. This does not mean that you cannot comment, just know that they won't appear right away. It's a stab at spam control. It's not the best system, but it's in place and it's hard to adjust!
So, comment away!! GO AHEAD! What are you waiting for?

After much begging, (okay, okay one person. And they didn't beg, they suggested. Same difference!) I do believe it's time to have a Warm Hands Knitalong again. Even though today is 80 degrees, warm and sunny summerlike, the fall nip is in the air and the thought of cold hands can't help but creep into the psyche.
So, do you want to knit mittens? Along with lots of others? I am not going to run a contest, just so you know. This is purely to get hands into mittens.
Let's stay with last year's rules.
Here's the rules in case you are thinking of joining. I'm a stickler for rules ;)
1. Knit mittens
2. knit them now
3. or later
4. just knit them
5. You must finish them
6. Or not. Your call
7. Share your progress with me
8. I know that Tuesday is Knitalong day in some worlds, but here it will be MItten Monday. Sunday would be a good day to email me with updates.
9. Be happy and have warm hands!
~~~
Wanna?
please email me at areyourhandscold@gmail.com and you're in! Be sure to leave me your blog name and email address!
If there is anything I can't stand is COLD HANDS!
